WPL 2024: The IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians will be played in Bengaluru. Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match by 5 wickets. The final match of the tournament will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals. The Delhi team has already qualified for the final by securing the first position in the points table. The dream of winning the second season trophy remained unfulfilled for the last season’s champion team and they were eliminated from the tournament one step before the final match.

How was the match?

RCB captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss and decided to field first against Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League. This decision proved to be very wrong for the team in the beginning. The team lost three important wickets in the first 4 overs at a score of 23. RCB kept losing wickets but from one end, the team’s star player Ellyse Perry stood and supported the team till the last over.
Perry leads RCB

Perry got out on the second ball of the last over, but by the team’s score, they reached a respectable total and the team scored 135 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Perry scored 66 runs off 50 balls. Apart from Perry, none of the other batsmen could cross the 20-run mark. After Perry’s brilliant innings, a big responsibility fell on the team’s bowlers to defend this total.
Mumbai Indians falter in chase

Chasing a target of 136 runs in 120 balls, Mumbai Indians could only manage 130 runs in 20 overs losing 6 wickets. Harmanpreet Kaur top-scored for Mumbai with 33 runs but her 30-ball knock was a slow one. For RCB, Shreyanka Patil took two wickets, while Ellyse Perry, Sophie Molineux, Georgia Wareham and Asha Shobana took 1-1 wickets. This is only the second time in WPL history that he has failed in a run-chase with the Mumbai Indians women’s team and it ended with him getting eliminated.
